[przykładowy dialog; A – uczeń, B – egzaminator]

A: A few of my friends and I belong to a movie club. It’s really amazing. Jennifer and I came up with the idea of Cinema Day a couple of weeks ago. Last Friday, we asked our class tutor if we could organize the event and he agreed.

B: Wow, that’s great. What’s in the event programme?

A: Cinema Day will take place on the 25th of March. It’s a Friday. It’s going to start at 4 p.m., after our lessons. There will be three screenings at the same time, three different movies, so that everyone can choose what they’d like to watch. The films will finish around 6:00–6:30 p.m., and then there’ll be a discussion, or rather discussions about those three movies.

B: And what do you need to do to organise the event? Are any teachers involved, too?

A: Jennifer and I will conduct surveys in all grades to find out what films students would like to see and discuss. And the top three will be shown. We will also arrange everything in the classrooms, put aside the desks and similar things. Each person who wants to take part in the event should bring something to drink, and if they want to, some snacks. Three teachers agreed to supervise the event, one in each classroom.

B: Would you like me to help you with the preparations?

A: Thank you, I’d be grateful. Each pair of hands is needed. The more people come to help us, the faster we’ll have the job done.

[przykładowa wypowiedź, przykładowe pytania egzaminatora]

In the picture, I can see a family, probably: mum, dad and a daughter. They’re casually dressed. They’re wearing jeans, blouses and trainers. They’re in a shopping centre, doing some shopping. They already have quite a lot of bags with the things they have bought. They seem to enjoy shopping, because they’re all smiling. They’re looking at something on their right, maybe a shop or something else that caught their attention. In the background, I can see a red-and-white piece of a decoration item, which looks like a candy cane, so it may be the Christmas season. They may be buying Christmas gifts for their friends and other family members.

1. What do you think they are going to do next? Why?

I think that after finishing their shopping, they are going to take a break and have something to eat or drink, maybe in a café or at a food court. Since they already have a lot of shopping bags, they might be tired and need some rest before heading home. If it’s the Christmas season, they could also visit more stores to look for gifts or decorations. Another possibility is that they will go home to wrap the presents and prepare for the holiday celebrations. They seem to be enjoying their time together, so they might also take a walk around the shopping centre, admiring the Christmas decorations and the festive atmosphere.

2. What is your opinion about online shopping?

I’m a little afraid of buying clothes or shoes online because you never know if they’ll fit you or not, and I don’t have the time to send the packages back and forth. So I usually buy only books or electronic devices like headphones online. In general, shopping online makes life easier. You can find the item you really need. On the other hand, you need to be careful not to fall for a scam. You might get cheated, that is you pay and they don’t send anything.

3. Tell us about one thing you recently bought online or in a traditional shop.

A few weeks ago, I bought a pair of Converse sneakers. I bought the shoes online. I searched the internet for the model I liked and then I paid for them by BLIK, and after two days I could put the them on. Fortunately, they were a good fit and I didn’t have to send them back.

[przykładowa wypowiedź, przykładowe pytania egzaminatora]

If I were to go on summer holidays with my friend, I would definitely try to convince them to choose a house by the lake, near a village, next to the forest. Such a place would definitely be peaceful and quiet. No traffic, zero noise. Only the sound of singing birds. And there’s a lot you can do there. You can go cycling, kayaking, swimming in the lake, go for a walk in the forest, and if it’s warm enough and sunny, I’m sure you can even sunbathe. Usually, there is a landing pier, so you can go sailing.

I’d reject the offer of hotel on the beach. Those places are always noisy, kids run around, and the hotel beach is always crowded. Plus, there are not many attractions for adults in such hotels.

I wouldn’t like to go camping either, because I don’t like sleeping in a tent and having no bathroom or kitchen. It’s just too inconvenient for me. It takes a long time to find a place to take a shower or even brush your teeth.

1. What are the negative sides of going camping?

Camping can be uncomfortable because sleeping in a tent isn’t as comfortable as a real bed. Bad weather, insects, and the lack of a proper bathroom or kitchen make things difficult. Cooking takes more time, and keeping food fresh is a challenge. Finding a good camping spot also requires preparation, and sometimes there are wild animals or unexpected encounters with wildlife.

2. Describe the pros and cons of travelling by one chosen means of transport while going on holiday.

Travelling by car is convenient because you can stop whenever you want, travel at your own pace, and take as much luggage as you need. It’s also cheaper if you share fuel costs with others. However, long trips can be tiring, fuel can be expensive, and finding parking in tourist areas is sometimes difficult.

3. Could you tell us about your dream holiday? Where would you go? What would you do?

I don’t know, really. I think I’d like to cycle with some friends of mine around the Mediterranean Sea. I’d like to have a lot of time for it. I’d like to stay in different places as long as I wanted. I’d like to meet local people and visit places, and sleep in places that are off the beaten track.

4. What things do you do in your summer holidays that you don’t do otherwise?

I go mushrooming, I learn to play new songs on my guitar, I hunt for insects and spiders and identify them, I read a lot of poetry and I simply do nothing. Yeah, summer holidays are good for all of those, especially for doing nothing. Hunting and identifying bugs really takes a lot of time. You observe, take a picture, study books on insects. I also like improvising during the holidays. I just wake up and wait for ideas to come.
