Zadanie 1OneI’ve always thought that you simply need the best equipment you can afford. It’s an expensive hobby, that’s for sure, but there’s really a big difference between what a cheap camera with a kit lens can do and a good camera with an expensive lens. Quality simply cannot be cheap. So, if you want the best pictures, invest in the best camera, best lenses – it’s worth every cent! TwoI believe that even the best camera won’t help if you don’t know how to take good photos. I often see rich, elderly tourists who proudly show their expensive gear – and take pictures in the automatic mode! It does make sense to invest at least some money in a decent photography course. Your pictures will be a lot better. ThreeWhat is the use of an expensive camera if many mobile phones can also take very good photos? Mobile technology is getting better and better these days, so why carry all this pricey and heavy stuff with you, and become an easy mark for the thieves in the process when you can use you phone which costs much less? Most people won’t even see the difference. FourWhen people ask me how to take good photos, I have only one answer — practice. You don’t need a great camera, you need experience. Sure thing, even without it, you can get lucky from time to time, but when you know that some ways are better than others because you have tested them yourself, your chances for better photos are a lot bigger. Get busy practising! FiveIf you want to take better photographs, you have to look at the work of well-known photographers. Look at their photographs, try to understand how they were taken, then try to take pictures like they do. They should become your teachers. Eventually, you will learn their methods and techniques, and then your photos will be great as well. Zadanie 2Text oneAs we all know, Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492. The truth is, he had no idea that in fact he’d found somewhere totally different. His true purpose was to sail west and find a new route to the Indies, which were a source of silk, exotic spices and other luxurious goods., The goods were very popular in Europe, and those who could find the shortest way to Asia would profit from it enormously. Columbus wasn’t aware of the fact that to reach Asia from its eastern side, he had to pass two large continents somehow. This is why, when he reached them, he was sure that his mission was successful and called the natives ‘Indians.’ The irony is that the name for both continents comes from one of his rivals, Amerigo Vespucci, who knew geography well enough not to make the same mistake. Text twoPeople used to think that Aspirin is a safe way to cure many illnesses. This was why it was extremely popular, both as fluid and pills. Today, however, it has been proved that Aspirin is not very effective when you have a headache or a fever, and it can help you only for a short period of time. What is more, it doesn’t seem to cure anything permanently. Despite of that many people believe in Aspirin so much that they treat it as a universal and safe cure, which has led to some serious poisonings as a result of taking too many pills. This is also why you shouldn’t give Aspirin to children, at least not without proper supervision. Text threeOne of the most popular sport in Japan is sumo. In fact, it is so popular that sumo wrestlers have a status of celebrities in the Japanese society. It’s not surprising given the fact that the best sumo champions can weigh around 200-250 kilos and are even 200 cm tall, which makes them giants in comparison to the typical Japanese. There are two reasons why sumo wrestlers are so physically exceptional: first, the extra mass is needed during the match, when you have to somehow push your opponent out of the wrestling ring. The larger you are, the bigger your chances. It is also the reason why the matches are usually very short. Secondly, the match is in fact a religious ceremony – sumo wrestlers represent legendary giants, who used to fight in the mythical past of Japan. Sumo wrestlers are also exceptionally strong and can move really fast. There is a price for your fame, however — many sumo wrestlers die in their thirties because of heart attack or a stroke. Zadanie 3Dear students, Our Biology project starts on 15 September, Wednesday. On that day, at 9 am, we’ll meet in my classroom. We’re supposed to discuss the basics of the project, which includes deciding who is going to do what and setting the deadlines. Please don’t be late. Remember, we’re planning to set up a garden next to our school. Although we’re not going to grow any fruits or vegetables there but set a nice, green and shady place for our students, it still means quite a bit of physical work, and we also need to be patient about the results. We have twelve months to get them. Here is the list of tasks that are the most important for our project. Take some time to make up your mind who wants to do what, and tell me during our meeting. Firstly, we need somebody who is good at computer design – we are going to need posters and promotional videos. We can use our mobiles but if any of you has access to a drone, that could prove extremely helpful. Secondly, we need a team who would be responsible for setting up a website and keeping track of our efforts on a regular basis. Thirdly, some of you should do physical work like digging in the garden, setting a fence and so on. Girls, I’m not going to say it’s a job for the boys only; you’re also welcome to help with all that gardening. Thankfully, we will get the tools from our school. I want everybody to remember that our schedule is rather busy and that we will have to spend some time working on our project during summer holidays as well, which undoubtedly will be the most challenging task for you. But it has to be like this if we want to beat our rivals from other schools and win the first prize next October. That’s it for now. If you have any questions, let me know. |
